Wisdom tooth removal is usually considered when a patient is in his/her late teens. By this age, the teeth are formed but with short roots. A panoramic x-ray is required to confirm the formation and position of the wisdom teeth. In some cases, a more detailed dental CT scan may also be necessary to confirm specific details of a tooth’s position.
